This is a notice for an upgrade of the MySQL/MariaDB database server version on the following GURU servers:

• grh12.myukcloud.com
• grh11.myukcloud.com
• grh10.myukcloud.com

The version currently running on this service is: 10.5

Support for this version will soon end and the version will be considered End of Life. As such, we have scheduled an upgrade of the version to: 10.11

• All applications you run on your service should be checked to ensure they support the new MySQL/MariaDB version (see above for version)
• The upgrade is a one-way change, it cannot be reverted back to an earlier/previous version
• There will be a maintenance window while the upgrade is applied, of up to 1 hour, during which database services will be unavailable. We will endeavour to keep this to a minimum.
• The following links provide details of differences between versions of MySQL/MariaDB. Most of this is quite technical or refer to server configurations (which we take care of) but we’re providing the information for completeness.

MAINTENANCE WINDOW

During this window the MySQL/MariaDB database server will be upgraded.

From current version: 10.5 To new version: 10.11

WINDOW START 2025-05-27 (YYYY-MM-DD) 20:00 BST (19:00 UTC)

WINDOW DURATION Up to 1 hour per server.

EXPECTED IMPACT Database services will be unavailable during the works.

As always we will do all we can to reduce impact or disruption to services.
